Description
This necklace is made from wood, coated with urushi lacquer, and decorated with long thin cut from mother-of-pearl and gold powder. In urushi art, this use of gold powder is known as the maki-e technique. Ms. Yamawaki’s accessories depict themes of birth and fertility in Nature, such as seeds, buds and fruits.

Her ornaments depict themes of birth and fertility – such as seeds, buds, branches, or flowers. They often seem to blend in naturally with the human body, giving her work a unique appeal.
